Everything now, all seems so temporary,
When the world is in chaos
When our lives begin to change
And there is no way to rearrange
Our negative thoughts, so they are not the start of our day.
It is like I can hear,
The cries of abused women, men, and children
And my heart aches and becomes so heavy
Thinking of them having to live with their perpetrators
Unable to escape
Hoping to rewind back the tape,
To a time when going to work or to school meant
That they had a cape,
That represented safety
If only for a while
And I hope the thought of having freedom again
Might make them smile.
But, right now, the world has been paused
People are losing their jobs, security, and thoughts.
Lord, please strengthen their minds
For trouble don't last always
Families unsure where their next meal will come from
I hope you remember that the Lord always provides
And although you may not feel Him
He's right by your side
They call "you" COVID-19
But I mean,
Where did you come from?
And with such a vengeance
It seems as if we have offended "you".
We see the news and some of us might start hyperventilating
How can we move forward, accelerating
When meditating, is the absolute last thing on our mind
When celebrating being alive seems harder to do
Even it helps to pass the time,
In quarantine.
